Taskworld
Application overview
Taskworld is an all-in-one project management application that helps businesses across all industries organize ideas, track progress and meet deadlines.
The new Taskworld and my role
In 2014, I, along with the entire design team, was tasked to redesign the product and improve the user experience from scratch. I was focused on designing the IOS version and worked closely with the IOS developers.
Goal for this design
From Taskworld version 1, there were some pain points such as:
Too many un-useful features which overwhelmed the users
Cluttered interface leading to confusion and sub-optimal user experience
Confusing user task flow
The goal is to improve the new flow of the user experiences for the mobile app. We minimize the features of the mobile app and picked the feature that our customers will be using while traveling, to make sure they can keep track of their important tasks.
Target audience
Our target audience were project managers who travel most of the time and want to make sure that they will be able to keep track of their team tasks and assignments.
Process
Before I started designing mockups, I worked closely with UX designers to make sure we are all on the same page and understand the main objectives of the design. We came up with wireframes and prototypes followed by user testing, gathering feedback, and finally designing the solution.
Together with the software specifications, the design piece is very important in the development. Developers in all platforms: iOS, Android and Web refered to the design as their guide line in development. The visual design also helped in spotting errors in the specifications and clarified the unknowns or missing information in the specifications.
Learning
The most important key is to understand the users who we are designing for. Collaboration with UX and developers are as important as talking among designers, to get different feedback and views.
